An ancient festival of fire, noise, and joy to say goodbye to winter and welcome spring… all together, young and old!
On Alpe Cimbra, as February comes to an end, the community gathers for one of the most magical and fun moments of the year. It’s time to “chase away the winter”!
How? With cowbells, whistles, wooden spoons, and anything that makes noise! Children have fun playing, running, and laughing… while the adults prepare a huge bonfire in the middle of the meadow, often still covered in snow.
When evening falls, the fire is lit and the celebration begins: people dance, sing, and share stories around the flames lighting up the sky. It’s a magical moment, where the strong bond with nature and the ancient traditions of Alpe Cimbra can be felt.
