Route
The starting point of the route is located at the Parco Palù di Lavarone Cappella. After covering 3.4 km of gentle slope, the first ascent to Monte Belem is tackled: 1.7 km for an elevation gain of 85 meters; a short descent follows during which to relax the muscles before the ascent to Passo Vezzena.
Climbing to the fork for Malga Basson, the Lusern-Roana bike path is taken to Malga Millegrobbe di Sopra; via the Bear Trail, one reaches Malga Campo, descends towards Luserna, and returns once again to Malga Millegrobbe.
Once the descent towards Malga Laghetto is taken, the route deviates along a beautiful flat forest road that crosses the village of Luserna and further descends towards the hamlet of Tezze. The trail continues along a firebreak road that, in slight descent, leads to the hamlet of Masetti. Following the municipal road, one returns to Malga Laghetto where the climb to Monte Tablat begins. Magrè, Passo Cost, Forte Belvedere, Oseli, Masi di Sotto, and Malga Pozze are the next stops to reach the Lago di Lavarone and Prà di Sopra.
At this point, just above Carbonare, the two routes separate.
The Classic continues to the former Austro-Hungarian Command and, with slight ups and downs, reaches the finish line at Lavarone Gionghi.
The Marathon instead heads towards Forte Cherle, the Scala dell’Imperatore, and the former military hospital until reaching Forte Sommo Alto. The itinerary then points to Passo Coe and continues to Forte Dosso delle Somme. A descent follows that skirts the habitats of Serrada and Mezzaselva. The route climbs towards Francolini, Costa, Maso Spilzi, and reaches Passo Sommo. Once over the Passo, the roads lead through the hamlets of Perpruneri, Tezzeli, Cueli, Morganti, and Carbonare.
The building of the former Austro-Hungarian Command almost represents the finish line: in just under 5 km of ups and downs, indeed, here is the finish line of Lavarone Gionghi.
