Forte Cima Vezzena

The eye of the Altipiani
At 1908 m above sea level, the fortress is all one with the mountain carrying the same name.

Due to its position, it was called the “eye of the Altipiani”. More precisely, it was a reinforced observatory, controlling the Val d’Assa and Alta Valsugana below.

For the close defence, it had 7 machine guns in reinforced domes, artillery and 2 reflectors.

On 30th May 1915, the Val Brenta battalion attacked Forte Cima Vezzena, but the fort never capitulated. Moreover, it was heavily bombed by the Italians.
