The history of Italian mountain biking has crossed paths many times with that of the 100 Km dei Forti on Alpe Cimbra. One of the longest-running races in the discipline, it will celebrate its 30th edition on June 6–7, a competition whose roll of honour features athletes of remarkable calibre.
What has made the 100 Km dei Forti possible for three decades is the passionate work of S.C. Millegrobbe of Lavarone, supported by the Department of Sport of the Municipality of Lavarone and the valuable collaboration of the Alpe Cimbra Tourist Board. They are already working enthusiastically to celebrate this special edition in style. It will be a festival of sport and community, with events, meetings with athletes from the past, and a look towards the future of MTB.
The 100 Km dei Forti, an event that has become the beating heart of Alpe Cimbra, is ready to amaze once again with its two routes: the 50 km mediofondo and the legendary granfondo — the 100 Km dei Forti “Special Edition”, marking 30 years of history. This is an event that has masterfully woven together sport, nature, and historical memory, attracting countless enthusiasts to pedal each year along the trails of Alpe Cimbra, through Austro-Hungarian forts and breathtaking landscapes.
The 100 Km dei Forti route — original and now traditional — has won the hearts of bikers. The elevation gain is significant (2,397 m over 94.5 km for the granfondo, 1,244 m over 52.4 km for the mediofondo), but the terrain is exactly what riders love: almost entirely off-road, through forests and mountain paths, accessible to all. It’s the only race that crosses the entire Cimbrian plateau, touching the municipalities of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna.
In the heart of Alpe Cimbra, the 100 Km dei Forti is more than a race: it’s a test of character, a challenge among the giants of mountain biking. Year after year, the course has seen true champions turn effort and mud into glory. The roll of honour of the 100 Km dei Forti tells the story of Italian mountain biking, with prestigious names such as Colombian rider Leonardo Paez — when one speaks of the 100 Km dei Forti, his name echoes like that of a legend. Six victories in the Lavarone marathon have crowned him the undisputed king of the course. Consistency, experience, and flawless race management: Paez has read every climb and technical section like few others.
For Tony Longo, the Trentino rider who never gave up, the 2022 victory marked the culmination of a long journey. After years of strong results — bronze in 2013 and silver in 2019 — he finally claimed gold on home soil, finishing with the class of a true champion. His story is one of determination and regional pride.
Juri Ragnoli, the master of marathon races, embodies elegance and power. With victories spanning from 2012 to 2024, he has carved his name into the history of the Cimbrian race.
Among the women, Claudia Peretti in 2023 delivered an epic performance — despite mechanical problems, she never gave up. Her victory symbolises the grit and resilience that define great athletes. The new generation is emerging with Vittoria Pietrovito, young and already a protagonist, a pure talent who has claimed three consecutive victories (2023, 2024, and 2025). Lorena Zocca, another multi-time winner in Lavarone, remains a symbol of consistency and power.
The 100 Km dei Forti continues to be the stage where effort becomes legend. With the 2026 edition, it is ready to write a new chapter filled with emotion, challenge, and the warmth of a land that always welcomes with open arms.
