Base Tuono
Base Tuono is a museum setup dedicated to the Cold War, in its unique genre in Europe. It exhibits an entire section of Nike Hercules missile launchers with conventional warheads, operational at the NATO missile base in Passo Coe from 1966 to 1977. Next to the launch section, just beyond the underground bunker, a hangar displays an imposing and perfectly restored F104S fighter-bomber, also a witness to that delicate historical period. Surrounding it are images from the renowned aviation photographer Luigino Caliaro.
