The custom of Törggelen originates from times gone by when the farmer, after the labours of the autumn harvest, would invite those who had helped him during the harvest to his farm or cellar where the Törggl, a South Tyrolean dialect expression for the wine press, was located. The abundant banquet consisting of traditional dishes such as canederli (dumplings), sliced meats, pumpkin, chestnuts and all that autumn has to offer has become a well-known, widespread and reinterpreted custom for the pleasure of lovers of good food and eating in company.
